Why Should YOU Be MOVING TO MUSIC?

June 1, 2015

While there are some mornings we wake up energized and ready to hit the treadmill, pavement, or trails with gusto there are also those mornings that we drag ourselves out of bed and walk around the house trying to decide if we really actually want to do something active. For those mornings one of our go to's to get moving is to turn on some music. It works for us every single time.

We all know that music can make us feel good, even change our mood from crappy to happy. but it turns out your choice of tunes can make you move, literally. Researchers found that if music has "high-groove" qualities, your brain gets excited and induces movement in you, the listener.

Tunes are also a good distraction from your workout should you need one. And lets be honest sometimes we do! You tend to push yourself a little harder because you are focused on the song rather than the uncomfortable feeling of getting through that last rep or running up that hill. Songs with a good beat stimulate your brain and help you keep the pace you desire with self paced workouts like jogging, walking, or weight lifting.

So next time you are just not feeling that workout, make sure you have a favorite GET MOVIN playlist ready to go, push play, and well, get movin! A few of our favorite workout tunes at the moment and the "10 Catchiest Songs" from a survey done of hits over the past 70 years.
