WANDERLUST WONDERLAND

April 15, 2015

Aqua green waters, sugar white sand, and lavender skies...this was the view we woke up to from our hotel room every morning during our Spring Break in Cancun.  Touring the ancient ruines of Chichen Itza, swimming in cenotes (natural sinkholes), and consuming our body weight in Pina coladas was like stepping into a movie for a week. Although we did fry like lobsters on the third day, (the spray tans were gone after our first dip in the ocean) and cleaned out the supply of Aloe Vera cooling lotion from the gift shop the breathtaking views and deliscious seafood dinners made up for it. I will pull my head out of the clouds and stop reminiscing about our blissful time on the beach and let you soak in the beauty for yourself.

BATHING BEAUTIES - TIPS ON SUITING UP

March 25, 2015

If you were planning on finding the perfect swimsuit when the weather is warm enough to actually use it you might be left with something well, not so perfect. Swimsuit sales are popping up everywhere so even though it is merely March we thought we should get started on the swimsuit hunt. Because that is what it is. A hunt for color, cut, print, size, type, style, comfort, and price range.  In an effort to make the hunt a bit easier for ourselves, and you, we narrowed down a few of our favorites. By a few we mean a few of each kind. So scroll on through, find a favorite, and get shopping so you don't get stuck with a dud.

Basic black has more perks than just a slimming effect. To name a few... it is classic, elegant, and timeless, it goes with everything, won't stain, is not see through, creates a tan illusion, flatters the curves, and last but not least goes well with all skin tones. Popular for a reason!

Reaching for color this summer? Start your search in the blue family.  A great alternative to black, there are enough different shades and tints of blue to bring out the best in most skin tones.

Two perks of a Boho suit? They are in style and they help camouflage a small chest, or a few extra pounds with such a busy print.

One pieces have been spotted on many a celebrity already this year. Rock the look yourself by finding suits with a pattern to hide a few inches. Look for ruffles or other details at the waist if you have a boyish shape and want to create a waist. Find suits cut high at the thigh to make your legs appear longer and leaner.

Hide a bit of an extra tummy in a cute Tankini. Buy a few to have the flexibility of mixing your tops and bottoms. Enjoy the benefit of purchasing one size for your bottom and a completely different one for your top. Take all the tips from the suits above and roll it into the perfect Tankini and you are Bathing Beauty ready!

BE A BATHING BEAUTY IN OUR BEACH FAVORITES

February 27, 2015

With summer only a few short months away we wanted to share our favorite beach must haves and beauty drugstore products, even if you aren't headed to the beach who doesn't want a few new summer accessories to add to your bathing beauty collection.

1. Roxy Floppy Hat // Sold Out: Similar
Take good care of your skin, especially the skin on your face....this adorable floppy keeps the sun off your face and neck and does it in a stylish way.

You really can't go wrong with any pair of shades from American Eagle....whether it is tinted aviators to turtleshell they have a great selection of sweet shades at a reasonable price.

With a neutral outfit add a fun color with your beach tote. Make sure it is practical for the beach...you don't want to ruin anything too nice in the sand and sun.

We are loving the slim column maxi skirts that lengthen and thin out your lower half. The fabric is thick enough on these skirts that you don't have to worry about showing every little bump off to the world.

When you are not sporting a swimsuit cover up go for light airy tanks for the beach for a cute cover up. Stay with classic pieces that you can throw a cardigan over come fall. You can get more use out of them instead of going for the trendy tops that will be out of style come September.

6. Sand Dollar Necklace // Sold Out: Similar
Choose the jewelry that not every girl on the block has, stand out in a subtle way by having different jewelry.

7. Beaded Wrap Bracelet // Sold Out: Similar
Pick your arm candy that has flecks or beads of gold in it, the brilliant gold shade will play up your summer sun kissed tan.

OPI polish seems to be the best on the market, (as far as we have found, correct us if you have your favorites) it stays for days and days without chipping off or fading. Summer months are the time to play around with color or stick with your favorite nude tones....you decide.

Your usual flip flop is pretty flat without an arch to support your foot and before long you have an aching lower back. Go for the Rainbow Brand, they are a bit of an investment but they claim they will last you a life time. Who can pass up that kind of deal. I picked my pair up in San Clemente, CA and they are still going strong after years.

Stay more on the natural side of makeup on the beach, instead of sticky lip glosses that will melt off in the heat go for a pretty shade of pink lip stain.

Must have bronzer, gives you the all over summer tan without looking like an oompa loompa. This bronzer can be used year round, just don't go so heavy with it during the winter months. Keep it natural looking.

Picking a playful color for an eyeliner will play up your eye color and make the whites of your eyes look brighter which in turn makes your eye look bigger.

Hot vibrant colors will accentuate your golden glow during the summer, have fun with different hot shades of blues, lime greens, and fuchsia pinks.

We all know that lip balms are a necessity in the summer heat, choose a lip balm with a color to add some depth to those gorgeous lips.

Bronzer strips work wonders in the summer on a tan face, use this to highlight cheek bones, under eyebrows and under eye area to glow like a greek goddess.

If you are like us and halfway through the summer have absolutely no color on your upper legs, lather on some tanner and give it an hour....bam you have thinner, bronzed looking legs that are beach ready! Tanning lotions are always the safer way to go concerning the health of your skin.

Tame those wind blown tresses and make them look like a beautifully messy and texturized with a sea salt spray. This brand smells amazing....spray, crunch, and go!

Always, always, always remember your SPF! You don't want to be a fried lobster on your first day on the beach. Healthy skin stays younger looking longer, so take care of it by wearing a good high SPF.
