MOTIVATE ME MONDAY - SMOOTH START WITH SMOOTHIES

Tell us we are not the only ones that drink a smoothie and go from feeling like Shrek to the gorgeous Molly Sims? Seriously. It can't be just us. All of the fresh, natural, ingredients blended together pack a powerful punch and leave us feeling instantly healthier than we were just moments before. Maybe that is why we love them so. After a rough weekend of not eating as clean as we should, a smoothie can get us back on track Monday morning and let us, and our bodies know that good foods and a good week are here. 

Truthfully though, smoothies have more than their share of benefits you should consider. They are a quick and EASY way to get several servings of fruits and veggies into your day. Smoothies aid in digestion, improve your immune system, lead to healthier looking hair, skin, and nails, aid in weight loss, give you energy, and help to reduce cravings just to name a few. 

Read on for our favorite 3 smoothies we are loving right now. Follow our recipes, or add fruits/veggies to make them your own. Either way, we hope you will find a bit of Motivation to eat just a little healthier. Enjoy!

Tropical Treat

1 Medium banana fresh or frozen

handful/1 cup of fresh or frozen pineapple

1 orange

Blend until smooth, add toppings of choice.

*If using frozen fruit you may need to add a bit of milk or water to add more liquid

** To get more of a sweet taste you can also add 1/2 tsp-1 tsp of vanilla extract




Going Green Smoothie

1/2 cup water
1 cup green grapes
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
1/2 ripe banana peeled
2 cups fresh spinach packed
1/2 cup ice cubes

Combine and blend until smooth and top with fruit of choice.

Purple Perfection

1 ripe, Medium Banana

3/4 cup Pineapple Juice

1 container (6 oz) Blueberry or Huckleberry yogurt (any berry yogurt)

1 cup Frozen Blueberries

Combine and blend until smooth.

Add toppings of choice.

We are always looking for and trying new smoothie recipes so if you have a keeper let us know what it is or steer us in the direction of where we can find it. Until then you can find us sipping one of these three, wondering to ourselves if all the health benefits we are drinking are good enough to allow us a cookie to go with it. Kidding, but not really kidding.
